Waxhaw MOPS is local chapter of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), a international organization for all moms of infants to kindergartners, providing an opportunity to meet other moms and make the journey of motherhood together. For more information about MOPS International visit www.mops.org
MomSense: Bold • Loving • Sensible – equips moms to embrace their mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating through the myriad of daily mom decisions. Most women wonder:
How do I decide what to do when I really don’t know what to do?
Should I trust my intuition?
With so much available information, how do I discern what’s best?
What are the most important family values?
Developing a mothering strategy is somewhat like playing a game — and this year’s theme is appropriately game related. Have fun being a mom! Playing games involves being bold and taking risks, loving those in the game with us and being sensible while figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
Just as in real-life, sometimes in games, unexpected, “chance” events occur, abruptly changing our paths. We must regroup and determine our next steps. Sometimes we follow the instructions of “experts.” Sometimes we follow the advice of trusted friends. Sometimes we decide our “house rules” work best for our family. Teaming together with other moms is a great strategy. Relying on a spouse or mentor can help us play more effectively. And, most of all, developing a strong God-Sense is essential for mothering. Growing as a mom through the analogy of game playing assures every mom gains confidence in her abilities as a mom.
Laura shared at MOPS last Friday about a really good deal for family fun. There are many different places to visit that are included in the family membership.
$62 for a 1 year family membership including 2 adults and 4 kids

I look forward to sharing what the Lord has placed on my heart with the ladies of ALL ages... girls of all ages (well, first or second grade is probably the youngest girl that I would bring). I'm bringing my Olivia (third grade), but my Emma (who just turned 5) will be staying at home. I won't be sharing from my life of perfect blooming (ha ha); instead, I will be sharing what the Holy Spirit has been challenging me with in the present, and how the Lord has given those around me as examples of Blooming! It WILL be relevant to all ages & stages there... from the girls, to young ladies, students, college, career, single, married, moms, grandmothers, empty nesters, everyone...
I think there might be childcare available, but I'm checking on that! When I know for sure, I'll post the info here!
I'd REALLY appreciate your prayers for this day. Please pray for the Lord to be Glorified in all I say and do. Please pray for me to be sensitive to His leading. Please pray for those attending to hear whatever the Lord wants them to hear. Please pray for all those involved to be healthy that weekend (my family, the Jewels, the women's ministry team).
This Friday (April 9), there is a homeschool park date at the Waxhaw city park at 11am. If you are homeschooling, planning to homeschool, or don't homeschool but just want to hang out, please come join us! :)
Waxhaw MOPS will not be meeting this Friday. Please don't miss our next meeting on Friday, April 23rd! See you then!
This is the best time of year to invite a friend. Remember moms can visit up to 2-3 times before deciding to join. Invite another mom to check us out - no fees until Fall 2010!
