MOPS Meeting 3/26 Highlights!

Craft Day: Magazine/Paper Necklaces

What a fun meeting today. Thanks Lynn for putting together the magazine necklace craft. It was surprisingly easy and fun. I just had to capture these beautiful moms - they even matched today!

Everyone is asking for the link to the "Potty Talk" clip that was shown today. A special thanks to Rachel Sawhook for sending it to me - I was looking for something funny to share at today's meeting and it fit in perfectly. Here is it http://www.ignitermedia.com/products/sea/singles/1083/Potty-Talk If you have a funny story to share, save it for our next meeting, BUT bring a $dollar$ (or more). We are adding up our Happy/Sad dollars for a special teen mom who needs our help.

RESURRECTION ROLLS

Submitted by Rebecca Brooks

Yummy & teachable lesson - who could ask for more!

Thought some of you might like to do this with your kids for Easter...

INGREDIENTS: 1 pkg. crescent rolls, large marshmallows, melted butter, cinnamon sugar.

Preheat oven to 350 degree F.

Give each child a crescent roll triangle to represent the cloth Jesus was wrapped in.

Give each child 1 marshmallow to represent Jesus (our sweet Savior). Have child dip marshmallow into melted butter (represents embalming oils).

Next roll the marshmallow in cinnamon sugar (represents spices used to anoint the body).

Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll and seal the edges (represents wrapping of Jesus' body after death).

Place in the oven for 10-12 minutes (oven represents the tomb). Allow to cool.

Child will find roll is puffed up, but empty. He is RISEN!!

MOPS Meeting 3/12 Highlights!

We had a great MOPS meeting Friday and wanted to share some of the highlights from that day. For those of you that didn't make it – you were definitely missed! Hopefully, now that we can see, feel and smell that springtime is just around the corner more of the children (and moms too) will be healthy again.

Our topic for the day was Living together with God and how becoming a mom changes your relationship with God. Feel free to comment if you want to share anything that moved you during the discussion group time at your table.

I thought it would be fun to see how our MOPPETS would respond to the question:

What are you learning about God
and the
Bible?
So, I asked Kate to have a few of our workers write some responses down. We shared these at our meeting, but I didn't want anyone to miss them.

Aidan DeMartini said: "God loves the children"

Garrett Brooks said: "I learned that twins are the same age!"

Alatheia Anderson said: "God made the whole world and the sky! It's in the Bible."

Josiah Anderson said: "Only Daddy reads the Bible. When I'm a good reader I can read it, too!"

Overnight Coffee Cake

Served at MOPS on 2/26 - I can't remember who brought it; anyone want to take credit for this? Leave a comment!

(from Southern Living)

3/4 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs

2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg - or cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream
3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c chopped pecans
1 tsp cinnamon

Beat butter & sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time - beating after each. Mix next 5 ingredients in separate bowl. Add flour mixture and sour cream - alternating between the two, starting and ending with flour.

Spread into greased 9x13 pan. Mix brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon & sprinkle over top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (8 to 18 hrs)

Bake @ 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until set. Enjoy!
